Bluegill

Check out this awesome bluegill that Andrea Larko did. Her work is interesting and fresh, and I love it! That's why I bought this piece. She's currently making colored prints of this bluegill, and they look awesome! (Click on her name above to see more of her work.)
Hanging in my room near my fly tying desk. What better place for a bluegill...a blue wall.

Here is a doodle I did. Doesn't even compare to the work you see above. Enjoy!

Misfit Fly Co. / Lund's Fly Shop

We all see those contests on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. You know...like our page, comment, and share this post and you're entered to win something.

I enter most of these, and if the prize is something that is worth while, I will have my girlfriend enter, as well. :)

Recently, Misfit Fly Co. had a contest. You had to like and share their post, and post a picture of a fly you tied or a fish you caught. It didn't have to have their product in the picture. I posted a picture of one of my baitfish patterns. Come to find out...I won! How awesome is that! What I won I had no idea until it arrived.

I've been wanting to order up some of the Misfit Holo Heads to tie with, because, they flat out look really cool. Pile Cast has tied up some really awesome flies with this product. I just haven't gotten around to ordering up a few as a trial. Now I don't have to, because, I won a nice little goodie bag of them!

Big thank you goes out to, Owner/Operator Brian Smolinski of Lund's Fly Shop & Misfit Fly Co.

Check 'em out!
I also look forward to tying with the tube fly stuff. Never tried a tube fly before. Should be interesting!!!

Skunked Fox

Went out with my buddy Danny to the Fox River. He and our other friend The Fat Gordo did really well at this spot a few weeks ago catching some nice smallies.

My weapon of choice was my fly rod and various flies. This produced absolutely nothing  =)

Danny started off with a jig n craw, but missed a few strikes. On the wade back he switched to a gold inline spinner and caught a few small smallies, and then a quillback as we were about to step out of the river and call it a day.

Here are the few pictures I took from the day.
We couldn't find anyone hiding...Either they're really good at hiding or they're no longer oppressed. :)

Never seen one of these. Had some help ID'ing it.

Game Changer

Received my materials for Blane Chocklett's "Game Changer" last week. I was able to tie only one so far. Let me just say, changing the game takes forever! haha. I'm sure as I tie more of them, the time per fly will decrease. The most time consuming part of this tie is shaping the fibers. I am still not happy with the shape of it, and I am still trimming the fly every once in awhile. Unfortunalty, the I've been too busy to get this fly wet. I am hopeful that I will get to toss it sometime this week. Fingers croseed that it moves like it's supposed to, and attracts the big bass I am looking for.

Materials:
Fish Skull Fish Spine
CCT Body Fur
CCG Monster Eyes
2/0 Allen Fly Fishing Hook
Trailer Hook
Game Changer complete with a trailer hook in the tail.

Not a game changer, but it's made with a 55mm fish skull articulated shank. Here's the meat!

Material List:
Fish Skull Articulated Shank - 55mm
2/0 Allen Fly Fishing Hook
Trailer hook
EP fibers Red & Black
CCG Solar Flare Eyes
This will be looking for northern pike & musky.

Night Fishing

As of late, I have not been able to fish during the day as much as I would like, but it's all good in the hood. The bass have been extremely active right at sunset, and this is when I am able to fish. I've been starting out with top water...poppers...todds wiggle worm...and any other type of insect I see hatching. I have been very successful with todds wiggle worm in the chartreuse. It has produced the most top water action out of all of my top water flies.

When it get's too dark. I've been switching over to my baitcaster and throwing a buzzbait, swim jig, chatter bait, or just a reagular spinner bait. There is just something awesome about fishing in complete darkness, and reandering your vision useless.

What is your favorite sunset fly/lure? ...and what is your favorite night fly/lure?
